Atlas Floors Carpet One Floor & Home is a full-service floor covering company serving San Antonio and South Texas. We offer a wide array of quality flooring products in carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, ceramic & porcelain tile. With each purchase backed by our professional installation services, you can be confident that your flooring will perform for a long time. Family-owned and operated since 1948, our firm spans two flooring showrooms and a central office location, making us San Antonio’s premier flooring retailer.

William E. Mahone, a World War II veteran, always dreamed of owning a business. Upon returning from the war in 1948, armed with a carpentry background and a $1600 loan, Mr. Mahone was able to make that dream a reality by opening his own flooring store. Named in homage to the Greek titan, Atlas, a symbol of strength and endurance the business continued to grow as the years passed. Sadly, our founding father suffered a fatal heart attack in 1972, leaving son Bill Mahone Jr., his wife, Laura, and daughters, Jessica, and Annie, to continue the family legacy. In 1984, the family was able to double the size of their operation by building a warehouse and an add-on to their current flooring showroom.

The family would further expand the business in 2000, opening a second showroom in North San Antonio off Highway 281 & Donella Rd. The following year, Atlas Floors became a part of the flooring industry’s largest cooperative, Carpet One. This new relationship allowed the Mahone family to maintain their local presence and independence, along with the buying power and resources of over 1,000 stores worldwide. In 2007 Bill’s son, Billy Mahone III joined the team, and in 2018 Jessica’s son, Matt McCarthy, would follow, giving the company a third generation of family members working in the business. The new showroom and partnership with Carpet One were great successes for the company, leading to expanding to a third showroom in Northwest San Antonio off Highway 1604 & Braun Rd in 2008. In 2013, in what was a bittersweet move, the family sold the original Hildebrand location. The company’s warehouse and accounting department now operate out of a more centralized location. Today, Atlas Floors Carpet One continues to operate as a family business with Bill Mahone Sr.’s descendants at the helm: Jessica Mahone-McCarthy (President) & Matt McCarthy (VP of Sales & Marketing).
